Buying and selling safely

Machines worth tens of thousands of francs attract fraudsters. A few simple precautions are enough to keep them away.

If you are buying

  • See the machine before paying, running if possible. A visit or a video call from the workshop clears up most doubts.
  • Check the company: “verified company” badge, UID number in the commercial register, fixed address and landline number.
  • Pay by bank transfer into a Swiss account in the company's name, and confirm the IBAN by phone, using a number you found yourself.
  • Refuse payments by Western Union, cryptocurrency or gift card, as well as any deposit requested before a viewing.
  • Be wary of a price well below the market, a machine “in a warehouse abroad” or a seller in a hurry.
  • Choose your carrier yourself. An escrow or delivery service imposed by the seller is a warning sign.

If you are selling

  • Only deliver the machine, or let it be collected, once the payment has been credited to your account and checked in your e-banking. A screenshot or a “confirmation” email proves nothing.
  • Refuse payments above the price followed by a request to refund the difference: this is the overpayment scam.
  • Be wary of a buyer who wants to send “their carrier” and asks you to advance costs (customs, insurance, transport).
  • Do not click on a payment link received by message, and never share your online banking login details.

What Revikolo does

  • Companies are checked against the UID register before they receive their badge.
  • Messages are screened automatically: if a message contains an IBAN, a link or a risky payment request, the recipient is shown a safety tip.
  • At the start of a conversation, a very suspicious message is held back and checked by our team before it is delivered.
  • New accounts can only contact a limited number of sellers per day.
  • Every conversation can be reported. In the event of a scam, the account is suspended and the people it was in contact with are informed.
  • You are notified by email each time your account is accessed from a new device.

What we will never ask you for

  • Your password, whether by email, phone or message.
  • A payment for the purchase of a machine: the sale is concluded directly between the buyer and the seller.
  • To click on a payment link sent in the name of Revikolo. Our emails only come from our own domain name.

Do you think you have been scammed?

  1. Contact your bank immediately: a transfer can sometimes still be stopped.
  2. Report the conversation from the messages, or write to us: we will suspend the account and inform the other people concerned.
  3. File a complaint with the police in your canton, with the exchanges and proof of payment.
  4. You can also report the attempt to the Swiss Federal Office for Cybersecurity.
